TUSCANY Castelnuovo Berardenga | Majestic tower from the early 1800s, adorned with recurring moldings, standing three stories high. Many arched windows, large interior spaces, full arches, imposing yet at the same time light.
Of great aesthetic impact, it was built in adherence to the previous building, exclusively for residential purposes. An external travertine staircase, with a weathered appearance from the evocative wear of many decades, leads to the entrance of the first floor. Other stairs, newly made of iron with solid seasoned oak steps of high thickness, feature a careful design and execution, providing a pleasant effect. As you ascend, from the windows, all made of solid chestnut, framed by ancient flat bands, you can see stunning views, truly postcard-like, and at the ceiling, muscular beams all in first choice chestnut, alternated with ancient tiles originally from the building, which were carefully dismantled and then reassembled with equal care.
Finally, they were sanded to provide sufficient uniformity, without excess, as a beautiful Tuscan job should be, crafted to perfection. These are works to be appreciated, to enjoy the beauty of the wood and the architectural craftsmanship, the roof structures with powerful chestnut beams, with large spans, bolted in the ancient manner with heated iron, passing and bolted in appropriate blindings of the beams. Above, the terracotta covering, after waterproofing, insulation, and modern concrete casting with mesh, consists of ancient tiles and roof tiles, that is, those existing, pleasantly irregular in thickness and shape, carefully dismantled, brought down to the ground, and then returned to the roof to find their place again, up to the ridge, aligned, cleaned of moss, proud to return to live for who knows how many more decades.
This building could not lack the colossal cellars, with beautiful vaulted ceilings in four segments, made of solid handmade bricks, masterfully laid like a knife, on edge, respected in the restoration, only cleaned with a sandblaster, still today of great enjoyment. Other ceilings are arched also in terracotta with mosaic tiles, and still others plastered. Full arches, some with lowered arches, always in solid brick, always of great harmonious effect.
